CARPE DIEM ..How To “Seize The Day”?

According to Psychology Today, mental practices (like visualization) can increase motivation, confidence, and even motor performance. In fact, in one study, researchers found that, in athletes, visualization was almost as effective as physical practice.

It is true. Do you see yourself as a winner? Keeping believing. Keep the thought in your head. It happened to me. That’s why I know it works. Nothing I read about. I just did it. My grandfather was a soccer champion. He was on the national team for his country. When I was a little child, I know I could do it too. If he could do it, so can I. I was aware of this when I was 11 years old. This goal became a reality for me and I followed my dreams and they came true. I know it will happen to you too!

8 Tips To “Seize The Day”

1. Get Out Of Bed And Out Of Pajamas

The simple act of getting up is a good first victory of the day. Leave a few sticky notes with positive affirmations where you can see them, such as: “Yes, you can do it,” “Every long journey starts with one step,” or “Never give up!” Your brain digests whatever thoughts you create, so feed it positive ones.

2. Energy Food – Know Nutrition

3. Don’t Over Schedule

If you can only accomplish one or two tasks, that’s fine. Congratulate yourself for every task or goal you complete, no matter how small. That will help improve your confidence and sense of motivation. Do at least one task each day! If you do more, you are going for the gold! That’s how you “Carpe Diem”!

4. Avoid Negativity

Read uplifting content and surround yourself with positive people. Reading the news or surfing the internet, talking to people who leave you feeling drained and negative, or revisiting sad topics —these activities can all have an impact on your mood and motivation. Instead, focus on feelings of gratitude. Even if you don’t feel like it, start nurturing those good thoughts. It’s a great way to Seize The Day!

5. Stick To A Routine

Make a daily list: Print out a list form from the Internet. I printed a daily form that included drinking 8 glasses of water. I had to check off each glass of water. It was a good start. Write down your routine, stick it on the wall or somewhere you will see it, and use check marks when you’ve completed tasks. The sense of having accomplished daily tasks will promote a sense of well-being and inspire you to aim higher each day. Higher and HIGHER!

JOURNAL: You could also keep a journal as part of your routine. Journals are a good place to dispose of negative thoughts and make room for the positive.

6. Socialize

Choose positive relationships, encourage people to socialize with you when you feel up for it, and give volunteering a chance. Helping someone in need will improve your mood and increase your motivation to get out of bed the next day. YOU never know what may happen. Chances are something good! You need to “Seize The Day“!

7. Create A Support Network

Have a support network on standby for when your motivation runs out and you feel overwhelmed. Choose people you feel comfortable talking to and who can help provide encouragement. This is not so easy to do. It’s hard to find people you can trust. Make the effort. Find new “positive” friends by joining “Meet up”. Hiking groups and other structured socialized groups. Maybe a card club, or cooking classes. You may need a nudge to “Seize The Day”! Networking helps!

8. Get Enough Sleep

Your brain repairs and rejuvenates and heals during sleep. Aim for eight hours a day. Also, sleeping too much or too little affects your mood. Sleep is sometimes the best medicine!

Feed Your Motivation Plate

It may seem hard at first, but persistence will help feed the growing sense of motivation so you can “Carpe Diem”! You will find that over time it becomes easier to “Seize The Day“.

Start Small

Lack of motivation is a symptom of depression, but it may be caused by something else. For example, you may lack motivation if you’re having difficulties coping with an issue in your life or experiencing something that affects your self-confidence. Make small steps, baby steps to get better. One little change is a good start. 🙂
